This is a real progress update as at 27th September 2018 - we are hoping the car will be finished and offered for sale during November 2018!

The car is now back from the paint shop - next challenge is to assemble it!  - see latest photos

The process has been somewhat slower than expected, fitting the original body onto the original chassis, would, you would think be a walk in the park, not so, the original mounting holes had been welded up, so a lot of drilling and re-taping was required, the Radiator is now back from Vintage Car Radiators of Bicester. Plans are now in place to get the missing body parts made in the next four / five weeks, the Painter has been lined up for eight weeks time, Original Instruments are away being re-furbished and the Fuel Tank should be back this week having been repaired and lined. The new Dash has been completed, just waiting the return of the instruments. Headlights have been re-silvered and re-assembled ready to mount.

The car is now back to a rolling chassis, complete with : The original Front Axle now installed complete with the original lightened steering, all previous chromed items have now had the chrome removed. The original Rear Axle has had original items installed plus new half shafts fitted. The Body parts are currently away having the paint removed.

Now the fun starts, fitting the original fuel tank!

We are pleased to announce that this historic Riley TT Sprite, one of the original Works Team Cars, is to undergo a substantial rebuild this year- returning the car to its original 1935 appearance.   This is possible due to us having obtained many additional original and authentic components and instrumentation, which were previously unavailable.

Anyone wishing to race the TT Sprite will be delighted to know that when the car is finished and offered for sale that the final price will include not only the most original TT Sprite now in existence – including the ORIGINAL engine – it will also come with a ‘Keith Pointing – racing engine’

Once the meticulous rebuild is finished with all of its originally, it will be eligible for any of the FIA formats including the Mille Miglia without further changes.

Robin Lawton Vintage & Classic Cars is delighted to be able to work closely with the restorer and owners who are leading the project.  We will be updating our Website and Business Facebook page, at key stages, to show the project evolving.

When the rebuild of AVC 19 is complete, Robin Lawton Vintage & Classic Cars will be managing the sale of what will be one of the most authentic, fully documented and historic Riley TT Sprites in existence.   Full details of the car, its history, the rebuild and the price will be available in November 2018.
